Has anyone seen this issue before? More importantly, can anyone give me an idea of how to resolve without a format and rebuild? With the processes tab in task manager I can see that firefox.exe starts and then stops. And when I launch firefox, nothing happens at all.
When I launch Safari, it pops open and immediately closes almost to quick to even notice. When I start IE, I get an IE window and immediately get a dialog that says "Internet explorer has stopped working." It closes and tried to find a solution, but it cannot.because even if it did it wouldn't open because IE crashes when it opens. I also tried repairing the winsock stack.again, no joy. The issue happens on the admin profile of the machine as well, so it's not isolated to the user. I tried using system restore to restore back to when the user was last using the system and having no problems. I tried running sfc /scannow as this was recommended on a couple of forums, but no integrity problems were found. I tried running MBAM and Combofix because the user had a malware infection in November, which I resolved with MBAM at that time.
This problem began today, and the user last had the machine booted about 13 days ago. This is a Win7 Pro machine, fully patched, with IE9, Firefox, and Safari installed on it. Any browser you attempt to run crashes instantly upon starting. One of my users has a peculiar problem, one I haven't seen before.
